Albany- Phoebe Putney hospital is receiving the Georgia VHA award for nursing recruitment and retention.

The hospital no longer has a shortage because it offers scholarships to area nursing students, and in turn, the students come and work at the hospital.

They also are trying to accommodate current nurses' schedules and provide more competitive salaries to keep the nurses already on staff.

Representatives from Phoebe Putney Hospital will accept the award at the end of October in Atlanta.
