ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County Commission honored a fallen soldier from Albany. 22-year-old Theron Hobbs died in November when a vehicle he was repairing rolled back and pinned him.

Hobbs was scheduled to return home this month. On Monday, his mother accepted a proclamation from the county acknowledging the service and contribution Hobbs made to the nation.

His mother, Rachel Smith said, "It means a lot. It's showing that he did serve his country for a reason and people are really grateful for him doing that."

Hobbs' widow, Kimberly, gave birth to the couple's only child last Tuesday, a son, named in honor of his father, Theron Hobbs.
