ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Cleanup continued Thursday in portions of Dougherty and Lee Counties after strong storms knocked down limbs and uprooted trees Wednesday morning.

Harper Tree Service had more than 80 calls from insurance providers in southwest Georgia in the last two days. Thursday morning, they had to use a crane to remove two large trees from the rooftop of this Huntington Subdivision home. Owner Lee Harper says there are steps a homeowners can take to prevent damage seen in Wednesday's storm.

"If you have Pecan trees or big old Oak trees, we'll come in and take the weight off of them, that will prevent the limbs from falling, you can cable the tree off, that way it will never fall," said Lee Harper, Harper Tree Service.

Harper says home owners should also have their pine trees routinely checked for disease. Disease can cause a tree to snap more easily in high winds.
