Macon, GA--Marcus James threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns as the Albany State Golden Rams won their second straight game in a 36-14 victory over Savannah State in the fifth annual Music City Classic.
Albany State (2-3, 1-1) built an impressive 30-0 halftime lead by scoring both offensively and defensively. Jeremy Mickens got into the end zone first for ASU on a 25 yard pass from James to make the score 10-0. Allan Lewis then recovered a Clyde Tullis fumble in the end zone for the second score pushing the Rams lead to 16-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Savannah State (0-5) did not get into the end zone until the 11:34 mark in the third quarter. Dele Afolabi returned a fumble 40 yards for the score to make it a 30-7 game.
ASU had the last word though as Clenton Rafe hauled in an 18 yard touchdown pass from James giving the Rams a 36-14 win.
