VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

There's no other ride like it in South Georgia.  Construction is underway for the Wahee Cyclone, Wild Adventure's new funnel-shaped water ride.

The ride will stand 48 feet tall, and 45 feet wide.  Groups of four will float through a tube before quickly plummeting into a massive funnel.

Along with the new attraction, Wild Adventures is giving their Water Park, Splash Island, a four-million dollar renovation.

"People know that something is going on," says Micha Froehlich, P.R. Coordinator for Wild Adventures.  "They can see the work and they can hear the work.  A buzz is being created around our revamped water park as well as the water ride.  People are getting really excited."

Improvements to the water park will include more locker facilities, new shaded areas, a cafe' and a new Polynesian Paradise theme, complete with tropical birds.

The water park will open, bigger and better than ever before, on March 14.  As for the Wahee Cyclone, it will open to the public on March 28.  Those with Wild Adventure passports will be invited to a sneak-peek on March 21.
