Valdosta - One South Georgia police department is especially proud of their K-9 unit.

The Valdosta Police department held a special demonstration to showcase the unit's specialized skills, including suspect apprehension, tracking, and locating narcotics.

Police say the dogs are some of the department's most valued officers and can apprehend suspects within minutes.

"All three of our dogs have made several apprehensions and narcotics recoveries, and are great partners to have in high profile patrol areas," said Andre Porter, Valdosta Police Officer.

Valdosta's K-9 unit has three officers and three dogs. Each dog is valued at more than $11,000 and bred specifically for police work.
