THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomas County commissioners approved the 2009 budget after more than six weeks of meetings and controversy.
The unanimous vote Monday night brought the budget down one million dollars from 2008's budget.
The county manager says the cuts are necessary, but it will take some adjusting.
"We have a workable budget. We don't have any equipment or vehicle purchases included. And we eliminated some vacant positions. We don't have any pay increases planned for next year. But as far as maintaining the basic operations of the county, we have a very workable budget," says Mike Stephenson, the County Manager.
The total 2009 budget is 26.6-million dollars. Feedback
