Montgomery Co., GA (WALB) - Rescue crews are still searching the Oconee River for a former Douglas fire chief who disappeared more than a week ago.

Dive teams are moving farther west as they look for 67-year-old Jimmy Porter.   He fell off a jet ski on the river between Montgomery and Jeff Davis Counties.

Crews are using heavy equipment to collect debris at the bottom of the river and nets to drag the river. The Montgomery County Sheriff says a witness saw Porter make a circle in the river with his Jet Ski.

When he hit one of the waves created by that turn and got knocked off of the Jet Ski. He wasn't wearing a life jacket.
