ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Red Cross needs your help with the search of a former City of Douglas fire chief in the Oconee River.  The American Red Cross of Montgomery County is running out of snack foods, drinks and warm meals to help feed several dive teams involved with the search of 67-year-old Jimmy Porter.

It is now day eight for rescue teams who continue to drag the river and use SONAR technology to help find 67-year-old Jimmy Porter. Porter fell of a jet ski and was not wearing a life jacket. The Red Cross is feeding up to 55 people two meals a day to keep this search going.

"For every meal and for every time that we can keep these searchers in the river, on the ground beside the river, that is that much more time to help find this gentlemen," said Montgomery County American Red Cross Director, Donna Lee.

Anyone interested in donating supplies to the Red Cross to use toward this search can call Donna Lee at 912-526-3150.
