If you’re out and about today make sure you stay hydrated. Temperatures will feel much warmer than they really are. It's the hottest day of summer and South Georgians are beating the heat by staying cool at Turtle Park. More >>

DECATUR COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Authorities in Decatur County say a woman found dead inside her home Saturday was murdered.

Decatur deputies initially received a suicide call at 451 Robinson Mitchell Road just after 4:30 Saturday morning.

That is where they found 22-year-old Yetta Parker dead from what appeared to be a single gun shot wound to the chest.

27-year-old Erik Williams who officials believe to be her ex-boyfriend, was at the home at the time of the shooting and reported the incident to 911 as a suicide.

Crime scene investigators said evidence shows otherwise and now believe the death to be murder.

Williams was in police custody for a brief time Saturday but was released.

Two young children were asleep in another bedroom at the time of the shooting.
