Valdosta - October is a month to honor the victims of domestic violence. One Lowndes County organization is also honoring the people who protect those victims.
The Haven Battered Womens' Center has recognized the Lowndes County Sheriff's department for their continued efforts and quick response times in domestic violence disputes.
"We understand that responding to these cases can be very frustrating and very dangerous, but we want them to know that their efforts don't go unnoticed," said Theresa Collins, Haven Public Relations.
Lowndes County only had one death last year in relation to domestic violence.
