Lions and Tigers advance to U-Save It Finals

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The Westover Patriots were hot and cold in the second half of their semifinal game with Swainsboro.

After scoring 20 points in the third quarter, the Patriots could score only six in the final eight minutes and fall 46-44 to the Tigers in the semifinals of the U-Save It Classic.

Swainsboro will play M.L. King for the championship on Tuesday night.

It is the first time an Albany school will not win the Dougherty County holiday tournament since 1998.

M.L. King defeated North Clayton 67-56 in the other semifinal.

Westover will play North Clayton for third place on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Albany High gym.

Monroe rallied to beat Dougherty 44-43 in the consolation bracket.

Monroe plays Albany on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. after the Indians beat Southeast Bulloch 52-49.

Colquitt County takes on Statesboro in the second consolation game at 5:30 p.m. after the Packers beat Worth County 49-34 and the Blue Devils knocked off Manchester 76-67.
