VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta's Elk Lodge helped out local families in need over the weekend.  Volunteers served a turkey dinner with all the trimmings to 60 families in need.

The food was donated by Hawg Wild BBQ. After the meal, each family was provided with a basket of food. Each basket came with enough food to provide a week's worth of meals.

"What (this) means for the community is, families who would go without Christmas, won't this year," says lodge member Bruce Hayden.

The event concluded with a toy giveaway for the children. The Elk's Lodge was able to get the jolly old elf himself to deliver the toys.
