ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Acting Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards has promoted two of his office's top prosecutors to be his Chief Assistants.

Christopher Cohillas was named the Chief Assistant District Attorney for the Dougherty Judicial Circuit.

Kimberly Westley was named the Deputy Chief Assistant.

Both have worked in the office since 2003.

Edwards says they will help him manage a fast growing caseload.

Acting Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards said  "So it's important that we have our feet on the ground in terms of our organization. And Kim and Chris provide that, and they will be working in that area."

Edwards won this year's District Attorney election and took over the office early after the retirement of Ken Hodges.

Edwards says his office handled 4000 Superior Court cases and 18000 state court cases in the last fiscal year.
