Dontreal Williams returned the opening kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown and the Albany State Rams routed the Lane College Dragons Saturday 49-0 at Hugh Mills Stadium.
The Golden Rams (1-3, 1-1) picked up their first win of the season by jumping out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and a 35-0 lead at the half.
Senior quarterback Marcus James scored on a 3 yard touchdown run on the Rams first offensive possession giving ASU a 14-0 lead. Albany State then scored on a fake punt when senior Kawaskee Teemer took a direct snap 36 yards for the score making it 21-0. Teemer would add another touchdown before the half to put the Rams up 35-0.
Albany State then scored twice in the second half to secure their first win of the season and more importantly first SIAC victory of 2002.
