ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County has a new Magistrate Court Judge.
Victoria S. Darrisaw was appointed Monday by State Court Judge John Salter. She'll replace Denise Marshall who was elected Superior Court judge.
Darrisaw once served as Federal Judge Louis Sands' law clerk. Since 2000, she's worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Dougherty County.
Darrisaw says she's elated by the appointment.
"My goal is going to be the same but the role will be different. The goal is still substantial justice. It has been for me as a prosecutor and will be for me as a Magistrate Judge. But I'll just have a different role. Instead of being one of the players, I'll be referee," said Darrisaw.
Darrisaw takes the Magistrate Court bench January 1st.
