ALBANY, GA (WALB) - There is now a new tool to help keep South Georgia youth off the streets and out of trouble. Open Arms Incorporated officially opened its Street Outreach Program center Monday.

They hope it will help lower juvenile crime by providing a safe haven for kids to enjoy after school and during the summer.

"We provide resources for young people who come through. If they need hygiene items, if they need to know about STD awareness or information on parenting; we provide those resources here at our drop-in center," said Street Outreach Director, Sharrodd Hart.

The street Outreach program will generally be open Monday through Fridays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It's located just behind Open Arms headquarters on Pine Avenue. Teens can also access Open Arms 24 hours by calling the crisis hotline at 229-432-1300
