ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The long-time Elections Supervisor in Dougherty County is retiring after more than 30 years, and, commissioners have met her replacement.

Ginger Nickerson has worked alongside Carolyn Hatcher for seven years. County administrator Richard Crowdis announced today she would fill the position after Hatcher retires in the spring.

Nickerson praised her boss and friend and said she looks forward to continuing to work with her.

"She will be coming aboard as a consultant for us," said Nickerson. "We couldn't do it without her, initially. I'm going to need her a lot for the transition. It's an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens. I realize it's a huge responsibility."

Hatcher will retire as Elections Supervisor in March.
