PSC wants to help rural Georgia

September 24, 2002

Albany- Southern district Public Service Commissioner Earleen Sizemore is holding a series of four meetings across the state to gather input from local citizens. The commission not only regulates telephone, electric and natural gas service, but it also encourages companies to provide jobs and services in rural communities.

"Its a lot of times in the small communities that people want to reach out and want to create jobs in hopes to keep people within their own community rather than moving out," says Sizemore.

From January 1998 to July of this year the Public Service Commission received more than 385,000 complaints and granted 3.2 million dollars in credits and refunds to consumers.
