ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Despite the hustle and bustle of the holidays, hundreds put their health first Saturday morning all while helping a worthy cause. Runners participated in a 10K, 5K or one mile fun walk during the Jingle Jog in Albany.
The event promoted living a healthy lifestyle, and one group took that message to heart. Members of Healthy Kidz completed the event. The group works to fight childhood obesity.
"It feels good because when you are a healthy kid, you get a lot of energy in your body," said Healthy Kidz Member, Jaliyah Sutton.
"At first we were kind of hesitant, but we have spent that much money eating out. So why not do something positive with it and help out the kids as well as ourselves," said Jaliyah's aunt, Kawumbi Bishop.
The proceeds from Saturdays run went to the Children's Miracle Network at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
