VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta State's great start tempered by the news that one of their leading scores will be out for at least a month.

Blazers head coach Mike Helfer says guard Tristan Crawford separated his shoulder in Monday's win over Georgia Southwestern.

Crawford is expected to miss four weeks.

Coach Helfer hoping the rest of the squad can pick up the slack in Crawford's absence.

If so, it should help the Blazers when Crawford returns to the lineup about the time VSU starts Gulf South play.

Mike Helfer said. "Hopefully our depth can cover from losing his production, his energy and his defensive ability. He is a great defender. We have got to have some guys to step up to the plate."

Valdosta State hosts St. Leo on Friday and Barry University Saturday in the The Loop Pizza Grill Classic.

Both games start at 8:00 p.m. at the VSU complex.

The VSU women will play at 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday at home at the Days INNvitational.
