FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) - Fitzgerald hasn't won a state playoff game on the road in more than 20 years.
The Purple Hurricanes have been road warriors so far.
Friday night, Fitzgerald loads up the buses for the biggest challenge of them all when they play at number one Buford. The Wolves have won five state titles in the last seven years.
After losing two of their final three regular season games, Robby Pruitt's Canes have won three straight playoff games on the road.
All of them in routs including a 39-7 win at Charlton County.
Coach Pruitt says the turnaround is due to the return of key starters to the lineup.
Pruitt said. "Not only good players but they were our inspirational leaders if you will. Getting them back just gave us a big boost."
A fourth straight road win will send Fitzgerald to their first state championship game since 2000.
