ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Senate race is one of three statewide runoffs on the ballot Tuesday.  There's a runoff for a Public Service Commission seat and a seat on the Georgia Court of Appeals.

Dougherty County has one runoff. Gloria Gaines and Henry Brown are running for the District five County Commission seat left vacant by the death of Art Searles.

Election workers at the Merry Acres precinct were busier than they expected.  Lloyd Saxon said,  "Well, it's very surprising to me, Karen. I wasn't expecting quite as many as we've had. They can always be better, because runoffs don't generate that much enthusiasm, but it's been very good."

Turnout was already better than the July primary runoff by noon today at 11%. Voting picked up this afternoon. If you haven't voted yet, you still have time. All precincts are open until 7 PM.
