Sophomore quarterback Buster Faulkner threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns to lead Valdosta State, ranked number two in the Division II polls, to a 42-0 win over Delta State Saturday night at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter, Faulkner got Valdosta State on the scoreboard with a 13 yard touchdown strike to Greg Loftin.
A 55-yard pass from Faulkner to Greg Loftin's brother C.J. set up the Blazers second touchdown- a six yard pass to Tyrone Jordan.
The Blazers closed out the first half with Nekeyma Wright hauling in a 15 yard touchdown pass from Faulkner with 27 seconds left in the second quarter to send Valdosta State into the locker room with a 21-0 lead.
Buster Faulkner continued his precision passing with a 16 yard touchdown to Reggie Mosley as 12 different Valdosta State receivers caught passes in Valdosta State's Gulf South Conference opener.
The Blazer defense meanwhile shut down Delta State's high powered rushing game by limiting the (0-3) Statesmen to just 26 yards rushing.
The win for Valdosta State is their second straight against Delta State and their first in Valdosta since 1995.
The second ranked Blazers (3-0, 1-0) will host Southern Arkansas next Saturday night at 7pm.
