Albany- The Albany Marine Base bids farewell to a colonel who served for thirty years in the military.

The MCLB held a retirement ceremony for Colonel Robert Cerney on Friday. Cerney served as chief of staff for the Marine base.

He also assumed the command of the Maintenance Center in August of 1998. Cerney says he hopes the younger marines he is leaving behind remember the importance of team work and commitment to their country.

Cerney says he will remain in Albany for another year, and then, he will move to the Michigan area to be closer to his family.
