ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  A fire shut down a popular Albany restaurant for a few hours Friday morning.

Grease caught fire on the grill at The Steak and Shake on Westover Boulevard about 6:30.

Firefighters responded,  but restaurant employees used fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the fire trucks arrived.

The Health department had to inspect the restaurant after the clean up to give them the okay to re-open.

Steak and Shake was open again at noon.
