ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The old saying no matter what the sport is defense wins championships.
Deerfield-Windsor coach Allen Lowe said in the preseason that his Knights should have a pretty good defense.
Lowe was right in his prediction.
Deerfield-Windsor is giving up ten points a game and held Tattnall Square to just a field goal the other night.
The Knights defense is led by the coaching duo of Rod Murray and Craig Rhodes.
Murray is the defensive coordinator but works with Craig Rhodes to put their players in the right position to stop the opposition.
Rod Murray said. "Our egos don't really matter. We don't care who comes up with the idea just as long as we win. I call the fronts for the front seven and Craig matches the secondary to the call.
Craig Rhodes said. "Me and Rob have been together for a long time. We worked together at Southland. We have been together a long time at Deerfield. It has been a good blend with me and him. I have really enjoyed it and we work well together."
Deerfield-Windsor hosts Westfield for the GISA AAA state championship game Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Webb Stadium.
