ALBANY, GA (WALB) - As of Friday morning 236,000 people cast ballots in Georgia's early voting for the December second election which includes the U.S. Senate race.

In Dougherty County, more than four thousand have cast ballots in early voting. Since many people had the day off, they took advantage of the chance to cast an early ballot in Tuesday's run off election.

Election officials say it's been hectic since early voting began in October.

"It's been real hectic," says Dougherty County Elections Supervisor Carolyn Hatcher. "It's been exciting because there's so many people voting, that's unusual in a great way we're just so glad that finally people are waking up to the fact that they need to vote and they have a reason to vote."

Election officials say while early voting is over, they'll be working Friday and Saturday to prepare for Tuesday's run-off. They don't expect lines election day, expect for first thing in the morning when the polls open. The remind voters to bring your photo ID to the polls Tuesday.
