Dawson - The GISA Class A state playoffs have gone as most have expected.
Terrell Academy will play Thomas Jefferson for the state championship Friday night in Louisville.
This is the third straight year these two teams have met in the playoffs. T
he Jaguars have beaten the Eagles the past two years in the state semifinals.
Head coach Bill Murdock knows Thomas Jefferson has championship game experience but he believes his team is ready for the challenge of going on the road to win a state championship.
Bill Murdock "these seniors have played for four straight state championships from T.J.. Their experience and knowing what it is all about. I am excited about our kids. It is going to be tough having to go on the road but we are looking forward to it."
Quarterback Keaton Icard said "Two years ago I think they had a little bit better team than us. They beat us pretty good. Last year, I thought we were pretty evenly matched. We had one turnover and they didn't have any and that is what won the game for them."
Terrell Academy's last state championship was in 1996.
