ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Lee County Fire Investigators still aren't sure what sparked a fire from which a couple narrowly escaped.
Fifty-percent of the home at 1842 Smithville Road North was damaged in the fire which erupted around four this morning. The homeowners were awakened by barks from their two chihuahuas, Prissy and Molly.
The couple grabbed the dogs and got out of the smoke-filled home just in time. Relatives told us the couple lost most of their belongings.
