Valdosta - A national softball tournament is expected to bring nearly a million dollars to Valdosta.
This weekend, the Valdosta-Lowndes Recreation, Parks, and Community Affairs Department will host the Amateur Softball Association's National Men's Tournament at Freedom Park. About 50 teams from across the nation will compete, bringing over 2,000 people to Valdosta.
Parks and recreation officials say the games will have a great economic impact on the town.
"Anytime your bringing in visitors to stay for several days, it's likely to have a very cost-effective, million dollar impact," said Brockey Brock, Parks and Recreation Director.
The tournament will begin Wednesday night and conclude on Sunday.
