TIFTON, GA (WALB) - On the campaign trail Jim Martin made several stops through Southwest Georgia asking for votes in the upcoming US Senate Run-Off election. Martin spoke to a crowd of about 35 at the Tifton Gardens Saturday afternoon.

There, he stressed that their turn-out at the polls would be crucial to claim a Democratic victory on December second. Martin says as a US Senator he would focus on the economy which would turn the state's rising unemployment numbers around.

"We need to make sure that the credit market is unfrozen so that business can continue in this country. So that manufacturers can buy inventory. And retailers can have inventory in their stores, and people can have money in their pocket to buy things," said Martin.

Martin is running against Republican Incumbent Saxby Chambliss. Minnesota's Senate seat is also still up in the air. If Democrats win both Georgia and Minnesota, they will have control of the House, Senate and the Presidency.
