ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Six Albany High School students were awarded their CPR-First Aid Certification Friday.

Superintendent Dr. Sally Whatley presented the First Responder Class in their Allied Health Program with their certification.

The seniors have all worked in this program for three years, and with the certification now are nationally registered first responders.

"If anyone unfortunately suffers a cardiac arrest, they know the steps they need to take and the CPR mechanics to save a life. And how to use an AED to shock someone if they need it," said Emergency Medical Instructor Melinda Suber.

Several of the students say they are interested in continuing to study toward the medical field, or to be an EMT or Paramedic.
