'Totally Teen Zone' is off for now

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A City of Albany youth program designed to keep kids from committing crimes and joining gangs had to be canceled, because of a lack of support.

The Totally Teen Zone scheduled for Friday night at the Bill Miller Center was canceled by the Albany Recreation Department, because they did not have enough volunteers to host the program.

Recreation Department officials are asking for community support.

"We were successful, and we know the kids are disappointed. We really need community support. We need volunteers to come out. We need sponsors for the food, we need the community to back us and support their youth," said Albany Recreation Dept. Director Suzanne Davis.

The Recreation Department plans to hold the next Totally Teen Zone December 19th.
