Flood volunteers lend a hand

September 17, 2002

Seminole County - Volunteers have also united to help get flood victims back on solid ground.

A shelter is set up at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville. Outside, the Salvation Army is delivering food that Southern Baptist volunteers prepare. Volunteer Herman Coker says, "It means a great deal to be able to help people in an area of this nature in a flood. I was in the flood of 94 in Newton, so it means a lot to the people here."

The American Red Cross is paying for food and the Thomasville Chapter donated cots.

So far, more than 140 people in Seminole County have registered for assistance with the American Red Cross.
