Albany - Now that Albany police officers are getting incentive pay raises, firefighters want to know where theirs' are. Captain Gary Ball told commissioners Tuesday morning that firefighters, who receive extra training and education, deserve the raises too.
"Commissioners gave police money for incentive pay raises. We work hard too. We both deserve the pay increase," said Captain Ball.
The Albany Police Department is getting $116,000 for incentive raises. The money is coming from the extra property taxes collected from reassessments.
