Americus - Southland Academy head coach Jack Harris says he will step down after seven seasons.
Harris' decision comes after the Raiders finished the season with five straight losses and a 4-6 record.
Jack Harris left Terrell Academy after 17 seasons as an assistant and later head coach to take over the Southland program in 2002.
After two losing seasons, the Raiders began a three year run where they made two semifinals and one championship game appearance.
The Raiders won just two games last year and were 4-6 this year.
Harris told WALB News 10 sports that stepping down is what is best for the program.
He says Southland is a fine school that he would recommend to any student and parent.
Harris believes he will land on his feet with a new coaching job very soon.
