THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A new radio station in Thomasville is hitting the airwaves in a couple of weeks.

WSBX-AM has been streaming live online since November 4th...But December 1st marks the official launch of an AM signal.

The creator of the station just made a big move all the way from Los Angeles, and he has big plans for Thomasville and South Georgia.

His voice may not sound familiar to you yet. But starting December 1st you'll be able to hear Woody Nelson's voice every morning on your drive to work.

And he says get ready to be entertained with what he calls..."Active Talk Radio"

"Active Talk is taking talk radio and taking it to the next level. We don't want to talk politics...we don't want to talk about things that will bring you down ... We don't want to talk about the economy," says Woody Nelson.

Combining music and talk is something Woody has done for over 20 years. Now he's ready to put Thomasville on a national level.

"This station is the flagship station for my nationally syndicated radio show called the Brewed Awakening. So you'll be part of the nation," says Nelson.

Which means when you call in  your voice won't just be heard here, it'll echo as far away as Los Angeles. Something that could help South Georgia grow.

"If we can increase the tax base by bringing more tourism, more tax dollars to the community ... then we're doing good," he says.

And charity concerts are a future possibility, drawing in some big names to Thomasville.

"I talked to Toby Keith. He's a good friend of mine. Ted Nugent, he said you tell me when and I'll come, and some other bands are on deck.

WSBX 1020 will soon broadcast live out of the old WJEP building. But Right now you can get on wsbxradio.com and listen in.

WSBX plans to raise money for local charities. After the launch of the station next month ... It will support a Toy Drive for Christmas. Feedback
