ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany church plans to hire as many as 500 people once it builds a Senior Village and community center.

The Cathedral of Deliverance Worldwide Church and the Washington Community Development Center hosted a job fair.

Tuesday night  the church will announce more details on a faith-based grant that's expected to be no less than $13 million. They'll use the money to build a retirement community and a new church with day care, substance abuse, and domestic violence centers.

They'll need to fill a wide variety of job openings. "Teachers, counselors, administrative assistants these positions are available under Washington Community Development Center as well as the Cathedral of Deliverance World Wide Church. Also we'll be looking for persons in the maintenance area," said Human Resources Manager Wendy Green.

Right now, they're just taking applications. Jobs won't be available for at least a year. A second job fair will be held Tuesday at the church on West Highland Avenue from 10:00 until 6:30 when the presentation will be made about the grant.
