On a wet and soggy night at Hugh Mills Stadium, the Americus High Panthers knocked off the Dougherty High Trojans 27-6.
The win was the Panthers (2-0) second straight over a larger school; they defeated Lee County earlier this season. Americus senior Michael Terry started the scoring off on a one yard touchdown plunge for the Panthers with 6:33 to go in the first quarter.
The loss was Dougherty's (2-1) first of the season. Defensive back Jonathan LaVant highlighted the Trojans defensive play with an interception to save a touchdown in the second quarter.
