ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany elementary school students got to see a Police dog show his stuff Friday afternoon.

Ross, a six year old Albany Dougherty Drug Unit K-9, was a special guest at Lincoln Elementary School.

700 students from kindergarten to 5th grade watched as Ross pointed out an envelope with marijuana inside. His handler explained how Police K-9's work with agents to keep drugs out of Dougherty County and their schools.

Officer Melanie RodriguezDougherty County School Police Officer Melanie Rodriguez  "We also want to show the kids that Police Officers aren't out there just to take people to jail. We're here to show them the right things to do, to help them out. "

This demonstration was part of Lincoln Elementary's red ribbon week. Ross is one of the drug K-9's that patrols Dougherty County Schools to keep drugs out.
