VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Fire Department is collecting gifts for the 50th anniversary of the Mayors Motorcade.

The motorcade is a statewide program that brings a little Christmas cheer to the patients of Georgia's seven regional mental health hospitals.

Members of the Valdosta Fire Department will act as Santa and deliver gift to Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville on December 11th.

"We got a list of items with this like toothbrushes, toothpaste," said Battalion Chief John Wisenbaker. "They're really appreciative of any gift they get so we are asking for any small donations, gifts, even money, well go purchase gifts. Last year we were able to take a whole truck load of stuff."

The Valdosta Fire department will taking donations at all seven stations until Dec. 10.
