THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Rainy weather may have caused a chain reaction crash that snarled traffic on US Highway 19 in Thomas County Thursday night.
A little after 6 o'clock, Sierra Thomas lost control of this Envoy and hit the left side of the Ochlocknee River Bridge. Her SUV overturned, but she managed to crawl out through the window. She was taken to Archbold Hospital.
A driver trying to avoid the wreckage hit the right side of the bridge but wasn't seriously hurt.
Deputies say it had been raining and roads were slick.
A witness to the accident said, "She hit one side of the bridge, then the other side, then flipped over. The car was upside down. She was the only one in the car, but the car behind her, swerved to miss her, he hit the bridge and he went on down and got off the bridge before he stopped."
The southbound lanes of US Highway 19 were shut down for a little more than an hour.
