Putney- A power outage left about one thousand people in the dark in Putney Friday afternoon.

Around noon, a tree near Nelms Road fell on a transmission line, causing the power in the area to go out. The electricity was out in many homes and businesses.

Flash Foods Convenience store on U.S. 19 also had to close. The power was turned back on around four o'clock.
