ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The kind hearts of volunteers brought an early Thanksgiving to over one hundred people Wednesday morning.
Love Thy Neighbor, a ministry of 10 local Methodist churches, handed out 150 bags of food to families in need.
In their fifth year, organizers say the response for need is greater now than they've ever seen before.
"We've had about 20% increase from the previous months with new clients. So there's a great need in Albany. We're just doing what we can with what funding we have," said Volunteer Art Shoemaker.
"They take time, volunteer their free time. And it's a blessing from the Lord," said Recipient Deborah Nelson.
Much of the food handed out was donated by the local food bank. The bags included a ham, canned vegetables, and hamburger meat.
