Jackets get rematch with Gators

November 12,  2008

Thomasville - Thomas County Central will have a little extra motivation in their first round playoff game against Ware County on Friday.

The top motivation of course is the chance to make it to the state championship game.

However, the Jackets were denied that chance last year by Ware County.

The Gators upset the then unbeaten Jackets in the semifinals at the Georgia Dome.

It was a victory that hurt the Jacket team during the offseason.

Head coach Bill Shaver was of course the offensive coordinator for the Jackets last season.

Shaver is hoping everyone on this squad remembers the feeling of walking off the dome field last December.

Bill Shaver said "I hope the kids have that because when we went up to play Westside. That is one of the things Westside talked about. They wanted a little revenge from when we knocked them out the 2006 playoffs. You hope the kids will have that in the back of the mind. Something that will give them a little extra motivation."

Thomas County Central has lost four of five to Ware County.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Friday night in Thomasville.
