Valdosta- Lowndes County residents are concerned that the area is lagging in technology.

But in a public forum, city officials and local technology service providers assured residents that their making major technological advances, especially in the area of telecommunications and Internet service.

"Two years ago we didn't even have DSL Internet service around here, but now its in about 80 percent of this area," said Phil Jacobs, Bell South President.  "We're making major advances in bringing technology to the area and bridging the digital divide."

Panel members included City Manager Larry Hanson, Bell South President Phil Jacobs, and Rich Mossburg of Georgia Public Web.
