Darton soccer grabs #1 seed

Albany - The Darton women's soccer team is ranked number one in the polls.

The Lady Cavs will be the number one team at the National Junior College tournament next week in Chandler, Arizona. T

he unbeaten Darton team on Monday was awarded the number one seed for the eight team tournament that starts one week from Thursday.

Darton will play the 8th seed team Anne Arundel Communtiy College from Maryland.

Darton beat Anne Arundel in the first round of their last trips to national in 2005.

Head coach Ken Veilands is thrilled with the top seed and believes his squad is ready to bring home the school's first national title women's soccer.

Ken Veilands said "Every challenge we have put in front of them, we have succeeded. I feel as good about this team as I do any team."

Sophomore Rachel McQuade said "I can't describe how excited we are. We are over the moon. Over the moon."    

Darton will leave for the national tournament in Chandler Arizona next Tuesday.
