Albany - The Georgia-Auburn rivalry is one of the oldest in college football.
It also is helping a very good cause.
Georgia and Auburn fans will watch their teams do battle this Saturday.
Fans from both sides are asked to come out and give blood to not only support their school but also to help our region's blood supply.
Local Bulldog and Tiger fans this week will see who is the most generous when it comes to giving blood.
The annual Georgia-Auburn blood drive started Monday at the Southwest Georgia Red Cross Blood Center on Dawson Road.
Georgia booster Dee Matthews said "I think it really is more than usual. I don't know about that. We just always need blood. There is always a need for blood and blood platelets."
The Georgia-Auburn blood drive is sponsored by Regions Bank and will run all week.
Every donor will receive a free t-shirt.
The game is 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Auburn and can be seen on WALB.
