ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany City Manager Alfred Lott said he will personally be responsible for finding a replacement for Albany Police Chief James Younger.
Monday, the city manager detailed how he expects the replacement process to go. In the next month, Lott plans to chose an interim chief. That temporary replacement will likely be one of three deputy Chiefs Wilma Griffin, Steven Haynes, and Spencer Rozier or another senior officer.
Lott said Chief Younger does have some vacation time and could potentially leave the department earlier than January first. Younger announced his resignation last week after less than three years on the job.
